We have recently returned from a week at Southern Halt. Our lodge was excellent, very comfortable and clean. The reception staff, Sally was excellent. This was our 5th holiday with Charteroaks, 3 stays at Stonerush Lakes, 2 at Southern Halt and we have already booked for January 2027

Just got back from 4 nights at 20 meadow retreat. I was so impressed! The accommodation was lovely, really spacious, so comfortable. Everything we could possible need was there. The hot tub was amazing. On a cold February evening after a day of exploring the kids loved jumping into the hot tub before bed. The sauna was an added luxury. When we got there we remembered we had forgotten to get milk, was a lovely surprise to find some in the fridge and the essentials pack with tea, coffee, dishwasher tablets etc meant we had everything we needed to start our little break off amazingly. I really don’t have a bad word to say about the accommodation. The staff we saw (to ask about the ev charging) were also really helpful. Amazing break and would 100% recommend!

A very nice lodge/chalet looking through trees down onto Combe Martin. Very peaceful. My only reservations were the steep zigzag slope down to the reception and the sloped parking area by the lodges. But they weren't a problem once I got over my initial nerves.

To all the friendly staff who worked at Southern Halt, I would really like to thank you all for the best possible holiday at your Holiday Park. We had an absolutely brilliant time there, the Accommodation was very clean and it was very peaceful and quiet with no disturbance from anyone. The Garden is absolutely massive and the Sunrise and Sunset was spectacular which really made the holiday more special. My family really enjoyed our stay and it was exactly what we were looking for in a holiday resort. This is the second time we've stayed and we were not disappointed, the whole area is incredibly clean and open with views like nothing else else we've had when we've stayed in other Holiday Cottages in Cornwall. Everything in Cornwall is central and accessible and we found some fantastic Pubs like the Crow's Nest Inn which was really cool. I will put my Pictures up on my Instagram this weekend and will definitely recommend your Holiday Park to everyone on it. I've just finished writing my review on Booking.com and hope you're happy with it when it's published. We would love to visit again next year but we have to see how everything works out. Just taken a group of 10, mostly retired, men on a Cornish golf tour, having found Southern Halt online several years ago when our usual accommodation closed. We were very impressed with the modernity, location, cleanliness of the lodges and site. Even with single occupancy of the bedrooms, the value for money is great and we’ve been unable match it. Were that not enough we were approached by Sally after our first visit who advised to book via Charteroak. The extra savings offered were excellent but the friendliness, advice and enthusiasm of Sally has been absolutely first class. Nothing is too much trouble. Needless to say I’ve already booked accommodation for our tour in 2026.

Quiet and peaceful. All we could hear were the birds. We had a fantastic view of the valley from our balcony where we sat with a glass of wine. Staff can't do enough for you. Truly a restful and relaxing holiday.

The park is down a chicane down hill run into the tip of the valley of Coombe Martin. It's hidden out of the way and the view across the valley is lovely. The people at reception are lovely and very accommodating the place is kept so well, especially considering the hill this place is on. The wooden lodges/chalets are very clean and pretty much everything is on tap, cooker, washing machine, fridge etc. The verandas are very nice and there's a lovely walking area for the dogs. Water is hot and the washing area and tumble behind the reception are industrial for sure and get the job done asap. It is hilly depending upon where you're selecting your lodge, so it's a good workout for some. Everything is clean and tidy and the hire is good value. There's a bar open Friday and Saturday evening at reception and you can order in food (takeaway) and drink at the bar on these nights ?? Overall our holiday has been quiet and the hospitality and lodge has been great, even if the weather didn't accommodate. Enjoy your stay here it's definitely worth a booking and come and see the delights of Combe Martin ?? Ps. Our dogs loved it. ??

Just come back from a lovely stay in 24 meadow retreat, the site is very peaceful and secure. The facilities are all modern and having the washing machine was a bonus. We especially enjoyed using the hot tub, cinema room and the sauna every day. Sally and Laura were very helpful in organising a lovely surprise romance package for my partner on her birthday and come back to the lodge in afternoon to it all decorated for her birthday. My partner loved the lodge as a surprise getaway and she thought it was beautiful and we would both love to come again in the future

Beautifully located overlooking Combe Martin with views of the sea. Very handy for exploring the north Devon coastline. We stayed in a chalet which was very clean and modern. The park manager was very friendly and helpful. Price was very affordable. We're hoping to return.

This was our first stay and it won’t be the last! We stayed in 5 Meadow Retreat with our son, his wife and twin toddlers. From the very friendly and helpful staff at Southern Halt, to the delightful views and visiting ducks and rabbits, it was quiet and tranquil, with a spotlessly clean hot tub to relax in at the end of a day, making each day special. Perfectly positioned between the north and south Cornish coast, from Tintagel down to St Austell, there is loads to see and plenty of sandy and dog friendly friendly beaches, in a wide area. It is the perfect location for exploring Cornwall. The lodge was much larger and spacious than the photographs showed, spotlessly clean, there was no shortage of towels, gowns, plenty of kitchen equipment, cleaning tools, 2 toilets, ( especially useful for 2 families), lovely large comfy sofas, very comfortable beds and pillows, we enjoyed eating around the large round table with the lazy susan! Very safe verandah for toddlers and dogs, who enjoyed running around the lodge, enjoying the company of the visiting ducks. All the on-site staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Sally on Reception who couldn’t do enough to help our stay more comfortable, she arranged to move beds out of the smallest room to accommodate twin travel cots, texted me to let me know hen we could arrive before 4, the hot tub maintenance engineers were discrete and capable. The lodge staff friendly and responded quickly to a couple of requests, all in all a most enjoyable holiday indeed, highly recommended for a peaceful location. More

What a beautiful place to stay. The site is really well maintained and the accommodation is well spaced out with amazing views down to the sea. The cabins are nicely decorated and the kitchens are fantastically stocked with everything that you could need. Our kids loved the playground and the field to run around in, the whole site felt really peaceful and safe. The owners were really helpful and had lots of great tips about the local area. We will definitely be back for a return visit

We are just back from 7 nights at Meadow Retreat, Southern Halt, and we are already planning our next trip. This holiday park is head and shoulders above the many others we researched prior to both trips. Not just the value for money, but also the stunning, modern accommodation, with a cinema room that boasts recliners, LED ceiling lights and a flat-screen TV, a hot tub (accessed via the living area) – complete with fairy lights and a sauna with spa room and TV. Entrance is via security-coded gates, giving peace of mind. The kitchen/diner is fully equipped with every utensil, piece of crockery, cutlery and cookware imaginable, not to mention the wine cooler – all in pristine condition. The beds are super comfy with extra bedding provided, snug robes for the hot tub, and ample storage space all around. On Easter Sunday, we reported a minor issue in the bathroom, not expecting a response until Tuesday. However, within a couple of hours, there was someone at the door to rectify it. We really didn’t want to come home. Nothing is too much trouble for Sally and her team. I can’t thank them enough for their warm welcome.

Gorgeous spacious lodges with hot tubs in the heart of Cornwall! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and Sally was great at communicating and keeping in touch all throughout the holiday! ?? I wholeheartedly recommend Charteroak, pet friendly lodges that can give you an amazing experience with peace and quiet and a safe space to relax in.

I love this place. It's our second time at Charteroak Southern Halt, its the perfect peaceful place to just relax. 10 from Bodmin moor for a dog walk then back to the beautiful Lodge for a hot tub. A great break for us and only an hour from home. Will be back for our third visit next year.
