Walk in the footsteps of your TV faves!

Rugged coastline, stunning beaches and quaint villages, is it any wonder Cornwall and Devon play host to the nation’s favourite TV shows and blockbuster films?

If you fancy following in the footsteps of TV characters and movie stars while staying with us, read on…

Beyond Paradise

Rumour has it, popular BBC 1 drama, Beyond Paradise, began filming its Christmas special and season 2 in Cornwall this summer. So, if you’re staying at Stonerush Lakes or Southern Halt and want to catch a glimpse of characters DI Humphrey Goodman, Martha Lloyd and DS Esther Willians, head to the coastal town of Looe, just a short drive away, and keep your eyes peeled as fictional town Shipton Abbott is filmed there.

House of the Dragon

The prequel to the smash hit show Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon was also filmed in various Cornish locations. Fans of the show will likely want to head to Kynance Cove as it appears in the season’s first big battle sequence as a battle camp.

Closer to our parks, Holywell Bay Beach is also a must. Stand in the sandy spot where Prince Daemon Targaryen and Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen can be seen on the beach together - it is believed to be the filming location for the Stepstones. And did you know, Holywell Bay has also been used in the James Bond movie Die Another Day too!

Moving over to Devon…

Staying at Manleigh Park? It is a great base from which to visit Hartland Abbey, which is about an hour’s drive away. For period drama lovers, the gothic house and sweeping gardens, featured in the BBC mini-series Sense & Sensibility. More recently, it also appeared in The Night Manager. The cottage where the lead character stays is part of the estate. You’ll be pleased to hear the pub and the shop are both real businesses in the village, so you can stop for a spot of lunch and a wander around.

The Witcher

Fans of Henry Cavill and the Netflix series, The Witcher, will be excited to know that the second series was filmed in at Saunton Sands in Devon. It was home to the all-action scene with knights on horseback galloping and engaging in an intense battle right on Saunton Sands.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

This uplifting film set in the Second World War made use of plenty of Devon locations including Bideford town which is just 20 miles from Manleigh Park and was totally transformed in the film as a Nazi occupied town.  Hartland and the famous village of Clovelly were also used for some scenes.

Whether you’re thinking about holiday home ownership with us in Cornwall or Devon or you just want to come and for a holiday, there are plenty of places to visit and imagine your favourite TV and movie characters have been there first.
