Seems the ultimate dilemma right now, with the world still in a crazy state we are all still left a little confused and worried about making the right choices. Though it’s important that whatever the situation, we spend quality time with loved ones making wonderful memories. Which is what we are all about at Charteroak.

One way to do this is of course taking a holiday and switching the email to ‘out of office’ but do you stay in the UK for a staycation or make the decision to go for the trip abroad? Unsurprisingly we’re a little biased as to what we feel you should do, but you work hard for taking that time off with your loved ones and ultimately this should be a time of enjoyment from the moment you walk out of your door.

A staycation means you can be close enough to home without the stress of flight delays and cancellations, that it’s not too much stress packing and getting to your first night away and you can still get the feeling of a little luxury being in a new place, especially if it’s a luxury lodge!

Ok so the UK weather can be unpredictable, but that’s where adventure begins. Finding alternative activities, allowing the kids to be creative or simply doing nothing, but being together and getting to know one another again after a very busy past 6 months is good for the soul!

Sometimes a holiday abroad can mean hours by the pool with little conversation and not a very relaxing time at all, in fact you need another holiday to get over that one!

Choosing a staycation, particularly here in Cornwall means not only are you surrounded by pure natural beauty, but there are also no language barriers (apart from maybe the odd phrase, see previous blog), there’s so much to see and do for all the family and wonderful memories are able to be made including time spent in one of our luxury lodges.

So, what can you do on a staycation here in Cornwall?

Here are a few ideas:

Take a long soak in your private hot tub
Drive to the nearby beach for surfing and body boarding fun
Explore the local area, taking in the history surrounding you
Take a picnic on the beach
Stopping off at the cafes for cream teas & ice cream
Plan a day at the Eden Project learning, exploring, playing – the zip wire is immense!
Or simply just take full advantage of your beautiful lodge with a private cinema enjoying a takeaway from the Old Mill!
