Charteroak Holiday Lodges in CornwallCharteroak Holiday Lodges in Cornwall

Local Recommendations

Some guests come to Charteroak for peace and stillness... to sink into the hot tub, wander the grounds, and truly switch off. And we don’t blame them. Each of our Devon and Cornwall locations is designed for rest: tranquil settings, beautiful lodges, and nature right on your doorstep.

But for those who like to mix calm with a little exploring, you couldn’t be better placed. The South West is home to some of the UK’s most breathtaking scenery, coastal walks, restaurants and days out and each Charteroak retreat sits perfectly within it.

Here are some of our favourite local recommendations to help you make the most of your stay.

Cornwall

Where rolling hills meet golden horizons. Perfectly positioned between the coast and countryside, our Cornwall locations of Southern Halt & Stonerush Lakes offer the best of both worlds. Spend your mornings exploring Bodmin Moor’s rugged beauty, then head 20 minutes south to the harbour towns of Looe and Polperro for lunch with a sea view.

Here's some places we love and think you will too!

Recommendations:

1. Lansallos - A wild and quiet Cornish landscape with an option of walks, including circular from Lansallos village to coast, rugged coastal walk along the South West Coast Path and a short walk from the village to Lansallos beach.

2. Lanhydrock - Magnificent late Victorian country house with garden and wooded estate. Enjoy several circular trails through the parkland, woods, and along the River Fowey, with a range of difficulties to suit all.

3. The Blue Peter Inn, Polperro - Multi-Award winning atmospheric, traditional Cornish pub in an excellent location with stunning sea and harbour views.

4. Carnglaze Caverns - One of Cornwall's best kept secrets, an underground, all weather, family tourist attraction. Explore a slate mine, part of Cornwall's mining heritage and take a walk in 8 acres of riverside ancient oak woodland.

5. Penhale Pantry - A family run local produce outlet, part of Berry Bowden Farm. With regular events such as Feast Nights and Workshops, a fantastic farm shop, cafe and grounds.

Whether you want wild moorland walks or a nice drink overlooking the sea, Southern Halt & Stonerush Lakes put it all within easy reach.

Stafford Moor

Peaceful, private, and perfectly placed.

Surrounded by 81 acres of lakes and woodland, Stafford Moor is a haven for nature lovers and anglers alike. But beyond the tranquillity, there’s a wealth of local gems to uncover in North Devon.
