Dorset’s West Bay
is the location of ITV’s hit drama Broadchurch starring David Tennant and is under an hour’s drive from Saxon Maybank
, Charteroak’s quiet, rural holiday lodge site in Dorset.
With its towering cliffs and gorgeous beach, it’s easy to see why West Bay was chosen as the backdrop to the hit ITV drama. The Dorset landscape was always intended to be a main feature of the show. Chris Chibnall who wrote Broadchurch wanted to show his love for the scenery of the Jurassic Coast and used its key landmarks as part of his story.
West Bay is not only used for its stunning scenery but is also the setting for the café, police station, newsagents, Sea Brigade Hall and Harbour. Other scenes were also filmed nearby at Eype and Freshwater.
So if you love the TV Drama as much as we do then why not experience it for yourself. You can rent or buy one of our luxury lodges at Saxon Maybank and experience the stunning Dorset coastline for yourself. We guarantee it looks even more amazing in real life than it does on screen.
