Set 5 miles inland from the renowned fishing villages of Polperro and Fowey, Stonerush Lakes is situated in the agricultural heartland of Cornwall. The 28 acre freshwater estate is a masterstroke of unexpected features. First impressions are deceptive and upon arrival it is the 4 lakes in the valley bottom that focus the attention. It is only upon further inspection that it becomes apparent that there are many other diverse aspects of this truly tranquil location. Within this ‘secret’ location a new development of lodges is currently being created, based upon Charteroak Estates’ strong principles of sustainable design and construction. Plans are also underway to make Stonerush Lakes the first development of its kind in the UK that is completely ’off-grid’ (not connected to mains gas, water, electricity or drainage) together with being ’carbon zero’.
The lodges are positioned in a variety of locations within the valleys, each of which has individual character, offering a choice of plots, either directly by water’s side, at the brook’s edge, along a luscious valley or set back into a sundrenched hillside. All have the benefit of being screened by natural vegetation and mature planting. Each plot has personality and many have unique features which differentiate one from the next; this could be in the nature of a decking boardwalk hovering over a carpet of marsh marigolds as the approach to a lodge, or a cantilevered deck which seems to defy gravity. Surprisingly, beyond the boundaries of the property, few local residents are aware of it's existence, shrouded as it is by the folds of the hills and swathes of established trees to all sides.
